A Gas Safety Certificate (GSC) is a certificate that confirms the safety of gas appliances in your property. The certificate is provided following an inspection from an engineer who is registered on the Gas Safe Register.
It is a legal requirement for landlords to obtain a GSC every year. You may sometimes see these referred to as CP12s. CP12 is an old name for a Landlord Gas Safety Certificate. It's not the official name for this kind of certificate anymore, but lots of people still refer to them as CP12s.
Even if you're not a landlord, it's still recommended that you regularly check and service any gas appliances.
