Due to the nature of a Housekeeper's work, there may occasions when they're are directly or indirectly responsible for accidental damage to property.
Housekeep has set-out to build a fair marketplace and we want to help both our customers and Housekeepers in these instances. Therefore, Housekeep can offer up to £300 in cleaning credit to be redeemed against our regular cleaning service as goodwill.
Reporting damage
In the event of damage, this must be reported to Housekeep within 72 hours of the clean finishing. This will open a damage case and further information and photographs will be requested. This further information must be provided to Housekeep within 48 hours.
- Your Housekeeper would not be deemed responsible for any damage due to faulty goods, 'wear & tear', or as a result of reasonable use of equipment/products.
- £300 in goodwill credit is the maximum we can award. This can only be applied to cleaning and cannot be used for specialist cleans or tradespeople services. We can only award credit in circumstances when we know your Housekeeper is responsible for the damage.
- Housekeep will consider depreciation and wear and tear when assessing how much credit to award. Industry benchmarks will advise these depreciation rates, and some examples of these are as follows:
- Electronics, 20% annual depreciation of value
- Clothing/garments, 33% annual depreciation of value
- In order to verify the purchase of a damaged item, a receipt or bank/card statement may be required in some instances.
- Housekeep is unable to provide cleaning credit for any damages resulting from the use of oven cleaner or other corrosive cleaning products. We strongly recommend that you do not provide specialist oven cleaning or other corrosive cleaning products to your Housekeeper. We also recommend that you ensure the correct products are provided for any delicate surfaces or finishes.
- We strongly recommend that you provide cleaning instructions to your Housekeeper in the app to avoid accidental damage.
- You can read further details of our damage policy in our Terms and Conditions
