You can wear a face covering during cleans if you prefer to do so.
At the time of writing, you are not required by law to wear a face covering during cleans. You can check the latest government guidelines on face coverings when working in the home here.
Whether you choose to wear a face covering during cleans or not, we recommend that you carry a covering at all times, because you are required by law to wear one on public transport, and in shops. Also, some of your customers may prefer you to wear a face covering during your cleans.
We recommend that you check the job instructions in your app every day, in case a customer requests that you wear a face covering.
Your face covering doesn't have to be a mask - you can use any cloth covering, including a scarf/bandana, or a homemade covering made from an old T-shirt.
You can find our guide on how to make a face covering here.
Other changes to your customers' instructions
We have asked customers to add extra information to their cleaning instructions, to make social distancing easier for you during cleans.
You should regularly check the instructions in your app, looking for changes such as:
- Requests for you to skip a room if they're working from home
- Notes asking you to clean their home in a specific order
- Changes to the arrival time
If you have any questions about your customers' instructions, you can message them through your app from the day before the clean.
